The Resort and Its Setting

The Riviera Resort and Spa Marfa is an independent timeshare property in Mellieħa, the northernmost town on mainland Malta. Being independent rather than part of a large hotel brand, the resort has its own management and owners' structure, while its RCI affiliation means owners can also use their week to exchange into other RCI resorts around the world. Mellieħa sits above one of Malta's best-known stretches of coast, and the resort's position here puts owners and guests within easy reach of beaches, villages and historic sites without being in the middle of the busiest tourist strip further south.

Mellieħa and the Surrounding Area

Mellieħa has long been a favourite base for visitors who want sea, sand and a slower pace than Malta's capital offers. Mellieħa Bay, the island's largest sandy beach, is a short distance away and remains the obvious choice for swimming and watching the sun go down over the water. The red cliffs and sheltered cove at Anchor Bay are close by too, popular with swimmers, snorkellers and anyone after a good photograph. Families often head to Popeye Village, the old film set turned small theme park on the harbour nearby, while Mellieħa Parish Church, with its baroque façade overlooking the town, is worth a look even if you're not particularly drawn to church architecture. Boat trips out to St Paul's Islands are easy to arrange locally and reward you with some of the clearest snorkelling water on this side of Malta. For a proper day out, Valletta — Malta's UNESCO-listed capital, with its fortifications, museums and harbour views — is around 22 km south, roughly 30–40 minutes by car or bus.

Selling or Renting Out Your Week

Renters, meanwhile, are mostly looking for straightforward things: clear dates, an idea of unit size and sleeping capacity, and honesty about what's included. A good listing photo of the local beach or the view from Mellieħa helps more than any amount of marketing language.

Practical Notes for Owners and Exchangers

Because the resort is RCI-affiliated, owners can deposit their week into the RCI exchange system subject to RCI's own rules and deadlines — it's worth checking availability well ahead of the July–August peak, when Mellieħa fills up fastest. Outside of that, spring and early autumn tend to be quieter and more comfortable for both owners staying at the resort and renters booking a week from abroad.
