The Area and Things to Do

The Diablerets Glacier, about 5km away, is one of the few in Switzerland open for summer skiing as well as winter sports, and the glacier lifts also serve hikers after high-altitude views outside the snow season. Closer still, Pillon Pass (roughly 3km away) has some of the best day-hiking in the valley, along with viewpoints worth the climb. Lac Retaud, around 8km from the resort, is a small alpine lake that draws walkers and photographers in the warmer months. For a change of pace, Château-d'Oex (about 12km away) is known for its hot-air balloon festival and traditional chalet architecture, while Gstaad, roughly 20km away, offers a sharper contrast with upmarket shopping, restaurants and events.
