The Area & Things to Do

Puerto de Santiago and the neighbouring resort of Los Gigantes are known for the Los Gigantes cliffs — sheer volcanic rock faces that drop straight into the Atlantic and are a popular starting point for boat trips and whale- and dolphin-watching excursions, roughly 15 km away. The village itself has waterfront restaurants and a beach within easy reach. Inland, the whitewashed village of Masca (around 25 km) is one of Tenerife's most photographed spots, with cliff-top views and a well-known hiking trail down to the sea. Teide National Park, home to Mount Teide — Spain's highest peak and a UNESCO World Heritage Site — is about 40 km away and accessible by cable car for panoramic views across the island. Closer still, Santiago del Teide's own town centre, half a kilometre up the hill, has traditional Canarian architecture, local restaurants and a weekly market worth planning a visit around.

Selling or Renting a Week Here

Las Rosas is an independent resort, so a resale here is handled through the resort's own owners' association or on-site management rather than a branded exchange company. Before agreeing a price with a buyer, ask the resort for the current transfer fee and the latest annual maintenance fee — these figures aren't published centrally, and they're the two numbers that most affect what a buyer is actually willing to pay. Find out, too, whether the association holds a right of first refusal on resales, as some independent resorts do, since this can affect how a sale is finalised.

The nearest airports are Tenerife South (Reina Sofía) and Tenerife North (Los Rodeos); either involves a drive of around an hour to the resort, and a hire car is genuinely useful here, since public transport along this coast and up into the hills is limited. Evenings can be cooler than the daytime temperature suggests, so it's worth mentioning in a rental listing that guests should pack a layer or two.
